Ferrari CEO says first EV is racking up orders despite criticism
Story by Daniele Lepido
(Bloomberg)
Ferrari NV Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna said its first electric model, set to cost €550,000 ($638,660), is already getting orders from old and new customers after the car’s look triggered a wave of criticism.
The super-car maker this week offered a full glimpse of the Ferrari Luce for the first time. The battery-powered vehicle’s design, a departure from Ferrari’s traditional look, drew unfavorable comparisons to electric models already on sale. The company’s shares slumped.
“The Ferrari Luce has nothing to do with electric cars you have seen from other players,” Vigna said Thursday at an event in Modena, Italy. “You have to see it and drive it to understand that it wasn’t copied — not the interiors, not the exterior, not the performance.”

At what point does it make sense to ditch a gas car for an electric vehicle?
Source: NPR
PHOENIX – Rising gasoline prices have some Americans thinking about buying an electric vehicle. It’s a big financial decision, especially since Republicans ended federal subsidies last year worth up to $7,500.
Guadalupe Higuera, 30, of Phoenix, Ariz., bought his 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV before that incentive ended. But he still wonders if it was a smart choice. Higuera responded to NPR’s request for questions about reducing your climate impact and saving money.
With all the information entered, the costs of owning and operating both vehicles pop up on the screen.
“It’s saying $10,456 for your cost of ownership on an Equinox in year one, versus $8,000 to have continued to own your 2016 Jeep Wrangler” Domonoske tells Higuera over a video call. But after that first year, the two lines on the graph narrow. After five years, the Equinox, cumulatively, costs just $1,000 more, she says, “and then from there on, it’s cheaper to own the Equinox.”
A screenshot from a Department of Energy calculator, comparing costs of operating Higuera’s 2016 Jeep Wrangler with his 2025 Chevrolet Equinox.
A recent study by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology shows that across most of the U.S., electric vehicles are cost-competitive with their gas counterparts. And it found that in most locations, EVs also reduce emissions between 40% and 60%.
Our research leaves Higuera believing that it did make sense to ditch his gas Jeep for an EV — both financially and for reducing climate pollution. “Even though I’m just one person, I’m able to do something about it, which is as simple as just switching my vehicle,” Higuera says.
Organizers Say Why Hundreds of Registered Cars Missed Tulsa’s World Record Parade
Source: Fox 23 Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. — On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the City of Tulsa made history by setting the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Classic Cars during the Route 66 Capital Cruise.
While the milestone is a huge accomplishment for the city and for Route 66, a lot of people said they weren’t able to participate in the parade despite paying to be a part of the celebration.
According to Jonathan Huskey, Senior Director of Communications with Tulsa Regional Tourism, over 5,000 people registered their classic cars for the Tulsa Route 66 Capital Cruise. Of the 4,300 cars in the parade, 3,596 certified cars were officially counted in the world record.
That left less than 1,000 cars that didn’t get the make it into the parade. Huskey said, however, that it was not for a lack of effort on the organizers’ behalf.
Huskey told FOX23 that some people were turned away for arriving to the parade line up too late. Drivers were set to arrive between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.
According to Huskey, organizers even extended the time to 11 a.m., officially closing the line up at 11:07 due to the time slated for the parade.
Huskey explained that the reason for the low record number compared to the number of sign-ups was due to some people being turned away, some people not showing up, and the Guinness Adjudicator ruling some participants out due to their cars not meeting certain criteria.
Vice Grip Garage shared the following statement to social media in response to the community’s uproar at people not being able to join in the parade:
“I am deeply saddened, completely gutted, and ultimately embarrassed that thousands of you were denied the opportunity to participate in the world-record parade run and were turned away at the gate.
“Since certain parties have chosen not to accept responsibility, I will. After all, I agreed to help promote this event, and attendance ultimately grew to more than double the original expectations because of me.
“I understand what many of you sacrificed to get to Tulsa. Some cashed in retirement funds, emptied savings accounts, borrowed money, worked countless hours, and pushed through a difficult economy, high fuel prices, and inflated hotel rates just to be there. You poured your time, money, and heart into this event, only to leave disappointed.
“After speaking with helicopter pilots, videographers, photographers, staff members, participants, law enforcement personnel, volunteers, local businesses, and others involved, one thing is clear: the event was grossly unprepared for the turnout it received, and its ending came far earlier than many expected.
“If it were up to me, I would have prepared for the turnout and gladly stood at the finish line for every single participant until midnight if that’s what it took.
“I am heartbroken for every person who made the trip and was unable to participate. For that, I am truly sorry.
“Vice Grip Garage can—and will—do better. Stay tuned.”
Huskey said that the people who weren’t able to participate despite being registered are eligible for refunds.
“Any checked-in driver who was unable to enter the Cruise route will have the opportunity to request a refund of their registration fee in a communication sent to their registered email in the coming days,” said Huskey. “Those drivers are still official world-record holders and considered full participants in Tulsa’s Route 66 Capital Cruise.”
Despite the lower number of participants compared to those who registered, the City of Tulsa was still able to beat the previous Guinness World Record of 1,105 classic cars.
The parade drew in a crowd of over 100,000 people along 11th Street as the cars cruised from Expo Square to Mother Road Market.Brian Niukirk, Friend of the Show Coverage
